Scott is one of the four Founders of the Foundation Institute for Neurological Diseases dba Find Neuro Help.  He is very passionate about the mission of Find Neuro Help.  Scott is not new to volunteerism.  As a young man, he spent a year and a half as a full-time missionary in Costa Rica and Panama.  The people there lacked electricity and had very little running water.  In the jungles of Central America, Scott learned the importance of service, a lesson he has never forgotten.

“I am regularly reminded that when I serve, I am the one that is blessed.  Whether it is the warm peaceful feeling that fills my soul or the reassurance that I have helped someone in need or a simple thank you, I truly feel like I am the one that is blessed for the service I was able to render.  It is when the service goes unnoticed or unknown that the blessing is even greater.”

In the years since then, he has continued to be involved in service.  For many years, he was involved in leading community youth groups, including a local Boy Scouts of America Troop, and the Young Men’s organization of his church.  He also served as a lay minister for his church for a period of five years.  Scott continues this pattern of service to this day, volunteering to help and lead non-profit benevolent efforts such as Find Neuro Help.

Professionally, Scott is an accomplished Senior Deputy District Attorney for Orange County, California.  He has served that organization since 1990.  He is a dedicated prosecutor with over 26 years of experience having presented over 60 jury trials, written and argued over 400 motions, and trained law enforcement for the past 10 years.  He is also a seasoned expert in DNA, having been responsible for the creation and implementation of the Orange County District Attorney’s local DNA Database.

Prior to joining the Orange County District Attorney, Scott received his Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude in 1986, and his Juris Doctorate in 1989, from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.

Scott is a devoted family man.  He has been happily married for over 25 years and is the father of four children, two of which are married.  He is dedicated to his family and his religion and loves them both very much.

Why Find Neuro Help?  Scott’s back-story.

Scott has several reasons that motivated him to help in the founding of Find Neuro Help.  First, his step-mother was stricken with Alzheimer’s for over 16 years.  He witnessed first-hand the challenges that accompany this disease.  As his step-mother’s condition worsened, it was particularly difficult for his father.  A professional in-home caregiver was hired to assist his ailing father in her care.  This made things even more difficult for his step-mother, having strangers in their home.  As a result, his family decided that it was best to have his step-mother go to an assisted living facility.  Fortunately, they had the resources to do that.  However, the fact that many families don’t have that option available to them is something that Scott is keenly aware of.

Second, he has a son who has Epilepsy that went undiagnosed for many years.  His family didn’t realize that his son was having recurring non-convulsive seizures.  Then one day when his son was driving home from early morning religious studies he had a seizure, lost control of the vehicle, and tragically hit a retired couple walking on the sidewalk.  Both died as a result of the collision.  This event seriously shook the Scoville family.  They were particularly heartbroken for the couple’s children who lost their parents.  It was indeed a terrible tragedy.

Most recently, in 2014, Scott fell victim to Stroke.  Fortunately, he recovered, but as he lay in the ICU it was incredibly scary for his family, not knowing what the future would hold for him and his family.  They feel very blessed that he has fully recovered, but they are very aware of how different their lives would be if he had not done so.
